Te sorprenderá el regalito de Año Nuevo que los empleados de Ford recibieron en el 1914

A finales del 1913, Henry Ford decidió dupliclarles el sueldo a sus empleados y a la vez, acortarle la jornada laboral efectivo el 1 de enero del 1914. La jornada era antes de 10 horas y Ford la acortó a ocho. Esta movida cambió para siempre el entorno laboral en todo tipo de industria. Indirectamente, el que la mayoría de ustedes trabaje ocho horas diarias y no 10, se lo deben a Henry Ford. ¿Que les parecería si al regresar a sus trabajos después del receso navideño se encontraran con que les duplicaron el sueldo? Y no, no me refiero a un simple aumento. Me refiero exactamente a que a partir del primero de enero comiencen a ganarse el doble.

Pues con esta misma situación se encontraron los empleados de Ford Motor Company cuando recibieron el 1914. Resulta que Henry Ford decidió compartir con sus empleados las ganacias tan inmensas que le dejaban los centenares de miles de Modelos T que estaba vendiendo todos los años. Así que compartió esas ganancias duplicándoles el salario. De los dos dólares y medio que ganaban diariamente, Ford se los subió a cinco dólares diarios.  Si fuera ahora en el 2017, estaríamos hablando de un aumento de $60.34 diarios a $120.68.

Las grandes ganancias que generaba el Ford Modelo T le permitió a la automotriz duplicarles el sueldo a sus obreros de $2.50 diarios a cinco dólares. En la foto, un anuncio del 1908.

 

Pero eso no fue todo. Cualquiera estaría muy contento con que solamente le duplicaran el sueldo, ¿verdad? Pues además de eso, Henry Ford les bajó la jornada laboral a todos sus empleados de 10 horas diarias a ocho. O sea, que aún trabajando dos horas menos, comenzaron a ganar el doble. Ajustando las cifras a dólares del 2017 y tomando en cuenta las dos horas que les quitaron a la jornada, el sueldo subió de un equivalente de $6.00 a $15.08 la hora.

Ahora bien, habiendo sido don Henry un genio en los negocios, su movida no fue  meramente altruista. También fue una movida muy estratégica. Con sus nuevos sueldos sus empleados por fin tendrían dinero para comprar automóviles. ¿Y qué carro comprarían? Pues un Ford Modelo T, por supuesto. De esa manera, Ford lograba una fuerza de trabajo agradecida y orgullosa de su compañía y a la vez, se aseguraba que una porción de lo invertido en ese gran aumento de sueldo, regresara a la automotriz.

También fue estratégico el hecho de bajar la duración del día de trabajo de 10 horas a ocho. Con jornadas de 10 horas, las fábricas operaban todos los días con solo dos turnos y durante las restantes cuatro horas no se producía nada. Con tan solo bajar la jornada a ocho horas, Ford instantáneamene obtuvo un tercer turno de ocho horas. O sea, tres turnos laborales con cero horas de improductividad. De esta manera  las fábricas comenzaron a operar las 24 horas para así lograr satisfacer la demanda descomunal que había por el Ford Modelo T.

Hoy en día sería una gran noticia el que una compañía, de la noche a la mañana les duplique el sueldo a sus empleados. En aquel entonces fue una noticia grandísima y según se fue difundiendo, se formó un gran éxodo de obreros hacia Detroit en búsqueda de un empleo en Ford.

I know that Sprint has guards in place so that their apps cannot be uninstalled, so maybe they won’t let me get to recovery on my own to create a backup file. It sounds like rooting is not as big a deal as expected, but I guess I’m at square 1, and it’s a catch 22 that I need to root before backing up, and that I should backup before rooting.
